What’s Your Favorite School-Day Memory? ✏️

Hi! It's that time of year when kids return to school. My favorite school memory was going to the mall with my mom to buy new shoes. I loved my penny loafers the best. I also loved getting a fresh box of crayons, pencils, pens, notebooks, and a binder to keep everything in. What's your favorite school-time memory? This is also the time when makers like you and me look for school-themed sewing projects. Here are a collection of school-themed blocks you might make into a mini-quilt, table...

Hi! Yesterday I attended my nephew's First Communion. It was lovely to see my family as we don't often get together much. The First Communion reminded me of other important events in one's life--graduations, weddings, anniversaries, the birth of a baby and the loss of a loved one. As quilters, we often mark these events by making a quilt. Here's the quilt I made for my daughter. I was a new quilter and this was not a beginner's quilt so it took me years to finish it. But I did--piecing,...

Hi! I was in a store the other day and saw a display of seed packets. I don't have much time to garden, but I do want to plant an herb garden near the kitchen this year. Amongst the seed packets I found several salad offerings and the next thing I knew, they were in my cart. I've grown lettuces in the spring before but it's been decades. For some reason, I wanted to do it again. So I'm planting mesclun, arugula, and a lettuce mix. I'll let you know if anything grows, and if I can beat the...

I have a trunk show in the current issue of Love of Quilting, and some of the quilts in my show were featured because of the magazine's theme--borders and rows. I've gotten a lot of inquiries about four of the quilts in the magazine--quilts I call my Sister quilts. The pattern isn't mine--I made the quilts back when I was still learning quilting and before I started my business. The pattern was a BOM from my guild. When I saw the quilt I knew I wanted to participate, and make one for each of...

Hi! I'm coming to you late this week because this past weekend was my birthday weekend. My daughter visited and we did so many fun things! One thing we did was go to a cooking class at Sur La Table. The class was called Chef's Table and we learned how to cook scallops correctly, make risotto and dress a fennel salad. We also made small chocolate soufflés! The caramel sauce was made for us by the sous chef because of time constraints. There were so many classes to choose from that it was hard...
