Hi!

Yesterday I attended my nephew's First Communion. It was lovely to see my family as we don't often get together much.

The First Communion reminded me of other important events in one's life--graduations, weddings, anniversaries, the birth of a baby and the loss of a loved one. As quilters, we often mark these events by making a quilt.

Here's the quilt I made for my daughter. I was a new quilter and this was not a beginner's quilt so it took me years to finish it. But I did--piecing, quilting, and binding, all by myself! There are plenty of seams that don't match up and it's not perfectly straight but she loves it so that's all that matters.

Here's a quilt I made for my niece's wedding. She loves fall colors, especially orange!

I made this to honor my Aunt Betty who loved her Scotty dogs. She was the youngest of my mom's sisters but the first to leave us. She was a nurse, and inspired many other nurses in my family.

Here's an anniversary quilt I made my husband. I started this in time for our fifth anniversary, but it took me until our tenth to get it finished. I was a very beginner quilter when I started, and thought as I progressed that I would eventually be able to quilt it myself. It's King-sized and what I learned as I progressed as a quilter is that I simply didn't want to quilt a quilt that large on my home sewing machine. I have quilted quilts that large since, but it's not my most favorite thing to do. So I sent my anniversary quilt out to a longarmer and I'm not sorry I did.
